Salisbury Musick is a three day festival, celebrating early music. The inaugural festival was held on October 3rd to 5th, 2025 and what a great weekend we had! In the eighteenth century, three day festivals of music were held annually in Salisbury to great acclaim and we have had the same response to this exciting new venture. As in the 18th century, Salisbury Musick brought together local musicians and visiting experts to provide a wonderful range of concerts, talks and educational opportunities for all ages.
SAVE THE DATE! So many people expressed a wish that this would become an annual event that we have decided to organise another festival in 2026. Do keep October 2nd to 4th free in your diary! If you are interested in keeping up to date with our plans, please sign up for our mailing list.
For a flavour of 2025, we hope you enjoy these photos.
We have had some lovely feedback about the festival including:
The concerts were great, very well organized but all in a very relaxed way. I very much appreciated my decision to become a friend and get really good seats without having to get there early. The final concert was an absolute triumph. Magnificent, moving and tremendous fun. It was so good to see the professionals playing with the amateurs and our hosts during the weekend playing and enjoying themselves and the whole festival coming together, as it were. (Malcolm)
I thoroughly enjoyed the three concerts that I attended, Baroque and Roll, Festival Minstrels and The Leipzig Connection. It introduced me to Baroque music and I would love to hear more in the future in Salisbury. (Sarah)
So consider the recesses of our souls deeply touched and our whole selves renewed and revitalised by your music making. (Val and Tim)
Margaret Faultless, Patron of the festival, is renowned as an expert on historical performance practice, performing both as a violinist and director. She is extensively involved in educational projects and often brings her group 'Music for Awhile' to Salisbury. She writes: 'I am thrilled to support this exciting development in early music opportunities for performances and audiences in Salisbury. Rich in its own history, the city will be a wonderful home to Salisbury Musick. The performances of such engaging, accessible music will provide something special for everyone. Come and discover this for yourself!'
The festival is grateful for support from our festival partner, On Foot Holidays, and a number of other generous donors, including:
